Doctor Visit on Monday, April 12, 2004 @ 22:57 PM
For those of you who are actually following Emma's progress...we had a doctor visit today and I think she finally is remembering what happens when we visit our doctor. Once we walked into the office and she saw her nurse, she literally wrapped her arms around my neck and I had to pry her off to get her weighed and measured.

The good news - her little peanut head has grown!! My friend Kim has me all worried, she checks Lauren's head constantly - and when Em's didn't grow much between her 6 and 9 month check-ups, I started to panic a little, too. But it is growing, and believe it or not it is in the 75th percentile! So her little brain is making progress. She is just a little short of 30 inches long(again 50th percentile) and weighs 19lbs. 6oz.(30th percentile). So we switched her carseat around this weekend (which she loves!) but we really shouldn't have. (In Illinois it is when they are 1 year old and 20 pounds) But...we also had a little M&M incident...so maybe she'll gain those 10oz. in a hurry! Dada put some peanut butter M&Ms in a little egg so that it would "shake" and of course she managed to get it open today and shove them all in her mouth. She had a chocolate ring around her mouth, I kid you not! I tried to do the "scoop" and get them out, but at that point they were all melty and peanut buttery and I just figured, what the heck. She seemed very happy, I think she has developed a love of chocolate like her mama.

Oh yeah, I also wanted to write about her "words" so that she could see what she was "saying" when she turned 1 year old. Of course she can say Mama and Dada (Dada is her favorite right now), and doh (which is "no"), vroom (when she rides her bike), wheee (when she is on the swing), oh (which she uses for everything!) and yesterday I got her to start saying Nana. We are still working on Nena (Grandma Weishaupt's nickname), the E is hard still, but we are getting there. I also got today a "dog" - she had started saying that when we were in Leslie, but then she hasn't said it for weeks and it reappeared today when we were looking at pictures of puppies. And then of course the rest of the chatter...which is constant now. She looks like she is just carrying on a little conversation with you or her toys...and we're still anxiously waiting to find out what she *thinks* she is saying.

Well...I need to turn in while I still can get some good sleep. We'll talk with all of you next week after our vacation!
