I don't know if it is the calm before the storm, or if we've turned a corner, or what. It's not like Emma has ever been a "bad" child, but these past two weeks it is almost like she has finally found her rhythm - it has just clicked, she is the best, most-fun child. I haven't seen a tantrum in a few weeks!

I think part of it has to do with the fact that we can actually communicate with each other. I feel like I understand all her words and sentences, or can get what she is implying - and she definitely understands what I am saying and has begun to actually do things I ask of her!! She has been so agreeable and sweet this week, I can't even count how many times I've told her "You were so good today!" She just has been, and we have not been doing particularly "fun" things. We have been trying to get Christmas stuff done and I've been running to meetings with my client - but she has just taken a very laid-back approach to everything and gone with the flow. It surely must be my Christmas present from Santa this year. (Last year was Emma herself, of course!)

It has been so fun with all the Christmas preparations, too. Last weekend we settled down a bit and put up our Christmas trees and decorations - which Em loves. And she LOVES the Christmas lights on all of the houses around here. Every house she sees (even the really lame ones) she says "WOOOOW!" Some of the people really get into it and have some amazing displays.

It makes me very anxious for Christmas morning, though. I can't wait!! Now I know why my parents used to like Christmas so much - it really is all about seeing the kids' faces that makes you remember and appreciate the season. I think that has to be one of the best parts of having kids, being able to be a kid again and stop to remember the simple things that makes life so great.

But I still do need to take advantage of her nap time, which is right now. I need to get the icky stuff out of the way, so we can do fun stuff later! I hope you are all doing well and not getting toooo bogged down in Christmas "stuff" - we'll update more soon.
