I have been working on plans for Emma's birthday party and am still so astounded that she will be 2 next month. I swear once you have kids time seems to speed up to double-time or something. I have also spent a lot of time going over all of her baby pictures and pics from last summer - I just can't believe how "un-baby-like" she has become in the past few weeks even!

The past couple of days have been so much fun. (Do I say that all of the time, or what?) We went to see the Easter Bunny (from afar...we never really got very close to him!) and got to try out our new Easter attire. She looked very lady-like and really wanted to have a proper Easter bonnet and purse like Lauren, she kept picking them up and walking away with them whenever Lauren would lay them down! She also borrowed some little white shoes from Lauren, they are just the standard little girly shoes, but the minute I put them on her she discovered they made a little "tapping" noise and she started dancing and said, "Mama - Mary Poppins shoes!" (See the entry about my Mary Poppins-obsessed child, if you haven't read it already!)

But the best was today. She and I stopped for a sandwich and she was walking in ahead of me and a guy held the door for us. Before I could even say anything she looked up at him, smiled at and said "thank you!" in her cute little voice. I'm sure it is the hormones, but I nearly started crying - she is just growing up so fast. The guy was blown away - he just stood there smiling at her and said "You're very welcome, Miss" and then looked at me and said, "That was amazing and adorable!" I couldn't agree more, it really was. I mean I always hope that she will grow up and be very polite and remember to say "thank you" always - but I sometimes have to remind myself she isn't even 2 yet, and to know that you are supposed to say that when someone holds the door open for you - that is kind of amazing!

And then throughout lunch, she totally entertained all of the people around us. She learned a new word, "sharp" - because she was playing with the toothpicks that held our sandwich together and I explained to her that she needed to be careful - so she would say "ooohh, sharp!" and spear the pickle or sandwich with the toothpick and then just crack herself up laughing.

And I've also been telling her "no screaming" when we are indoors and a little kid started crying and having a bit of a tantrum while we were there and Em looked at me with a very solemn look on her face and shook her head and said, "Mama, no screaming!" I don't think the mother or the kid heard it, but the couple tables around us did - and they all busted out. She is such a ham - of course it made her say it again and look around at everyone to make sure they were still laughing. What a kid!

Other than our little escapades, we have been busy with projects, I've been doing as much work as I can now that I'm feeling better, and Emma has been "helping" with everything (which really makes everything take twice as long!) - so we are happily busy and charging along. I am officially in my second trimester and the nausea and morning sickness is slowly going away, so hopefully we are in good shape.
