Week three...and still doing ok. on Monday, September 26, 2005 @ 16:13 PM
I really hate to say anything to anyone because I fear the spell will be broken and our world will come crashing down around us...but we are still here and really, really doing ok!

We did have a little rough night over the weekend -- and of course someone had asked me on Friday how Addison sleeps and I was like "oh, she's pretty great for a newborn every 3-4 hours through the night, etc."...and then that fateful Friday night was a disaster. I still attribute it to the pizza we had for dinner...but whatever it was, Addison was NOT happy and we spent the entire night driving around, walking around, trying to get a burp --- finally she gave up (or exhausted herself) around 6am and slept for a few hours. Since then she is back to her routine...she is awake a little more each day, and sleeping 3-4 hours, eating, and back to sleep at night. (Ugh...even as I type that I wonder...will I ever learn to keep my mouth shut...we're doomed for another rough patch, I'm sure!)

We also had her two-week checkup on Friday. She now weighs...(drum roll, please!) 8 pounds, 12 ounces. So she is back to her birth weight plus a little extra to spare! The doctor said she looks perfect (again, we already knew that!) and her bump on her head is still nothing to worry about. Although J. and I sit and obsess about whether it is going down or not, pretty much every day. She has a pretty good-sized knot on the top of her head, we think because she probably hit some bone on her flight to the outside world. You can see it in some of her pictures, but the rest of her face is so cute when you see it in person that the bump is easy to overlook! :-) She doesn't really look newborn to me anymore, though. She is starting to get those delicious little chub rolls, mostly on her arms. And her cheeks and chins are so scrumptiously plump, it makes you just want to kiss all over them!

I hear her stirring in there, so I'm sure I will be needed (moo...milk machine here) shortly, so I had better go get her before she wakes Em up, too.

Em - by the way - has become the best little helper and has even started "mothering" her Bear. It is so funny to see her try to feed (!! yes, like I do!!) Bear, or put him in the carseat and she says the same sort of stuff I say to Addison, like "It's ok, Bear. We are going to go bye-bye" or my favorite, "Do you have stinky butt? Do you need a new diaper?" I'm trying to encourage it all, yet recycle wipes/diapers, etc...that are getting used on Bear. As if I need THREE in diapers! At any rate, she has been great and is still a very proud big sister.

Ok, now I really must go. We'll try to update more soon. I just put up more pics...so enjoy those for now.
