Yeah! We made it to 3 months!! on Friday, December 16, 2005 @ 15:55 PM
It is amazing the difference even one week will make in the lives of little babies. I swear the day after Addie turned 3 months she was like a new baby. We have got the hang of eating (even though she still wants to do a LOT of it) and sleeping, and she has honest to goodness belly laughs that still take me by surprise every day - you just can't help but laugh at her.

Last weekend we let her "cry it out" at night because I really want her to get onto a little bit of a schedule and get herself to (and back to) sleep. The first night she cried for about 8 minutes and then slept 12 hours! She takes even less time to get to sleep now, but we haven't had a repeat 12-hour night yet. She is sleeping about 7:30 til 3 or so, eating and then back to sleep til 7:30 or 8 in the morning. Which is fabulous - I can't even tell you the difference it has made in Mommy, let alone Addie! Plus we are starting to get a little more regular (and longer) naps...it is just amazing. I remember this with Em too - where the really hard newborn part seems like a distant past and you are just so overjoyed to have a sweet, smiley and happy baby. Come visit her now if you haven't seen her or need a fix...because she is just too, too sweet!!

We have been sans Daddy almost all week, and surprisingly we did ok. The new and improved bedtime regime has helped a lot. Every night this week I had both girls down by 8 or 8:30 or so and (believe it or not!) had a few hours to do whatever I wanted. It was a little slice of heaven...even though what I ended up doing was Christmas cards and calendars!! But I was able to complete both of them and still have over a week til Christmas to finish shopping, wrap and bake. Still it is a nice load off of my mind to have accomplished some of my to-do list.

I have kind of started a new business. I haven't really figured it all out or anything, but I have been doing kid and family pictures for a few families around Naperville. I am responsible for at least four (really cute!) Christmas card pictures and as of last Sunday was worried that everyone else would have great pictures for Christmas but I would not. But Jam helped me take some on Monday and we were able to get one good one of the girls for our card. Surprisingly it wasn't Addison that was hard to get to sit still and smile, it was Emma! And she is sooo used to getting her picture taken, I thought she'd be really easy. She does love her Christmas dress and her "tap shoes", as she calls them - so it was easy to get her dressed up.

She is so excited because she gets to wear her new dress and go on a date with Mommy tomorrow. We are going to lunch and to see the Nutcracker in the city. Mommy is really excited, too. I hope it will be a fun tradition that we can start and Addison will be able to join in on in a few years. Emma keeps telling everyone "only Mommy and Emma get to go see the ballerinas, Daddy and Addie have to stay home!" So it may just be the full attention that she is excited about, but I think she'll enjoy the ballet, too.

Well, I think I'll go get a little headstart on the weekend and figure out what cookies we are going to make. I love this part of Christmas! Check out the photos of our gingerbread house that Davin and Marcy helped us build last weekend. It turned out really cute.
