Addie turns 8 months old! on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 @ 14:34 PM
Woohoo! Look at me - journal entries two days in a row! You all are going to think that I have too much time on my hands or something! Actually both girls are taking "rests" at the moment, and I do have a little time. I just wanted to jot down a few Addie-isms since she actually turns 8 months old today! (So bizarre, I can't believe it!) And a quick, funny Emma story from yesterday.

First off, Happy 8 months, Addikins! You are 2/3 of a year old already. Although you look eerily just like Emma at times, you are so much your own little being now that your personality is coming out. You have started trying to eat anything we are eating - especially little cheese bits, mashed potatoes, rice, bananas and we discovered this weekend that you really, really like guacamole! You have mastered the sign for "More" and use it mostly when you want more food, but you also tell us when you want MORE peek-a-boo or MORE tickles. It takes me by surprise everytime you do it, I really love to see the look in your eyes when we both realize what you really want! You have started instigating your own version of peek-a-boo. Whenever you have something (anything really - a book, a towel, the can of fruit puffs) in your hand you'll hold it up over your eyes until we notice and ask "where did Addie go" and then you get such a mischievous grin and "peek" over the top. It is so cute. You have also been practicing "no" - not really in response to anything. But you love to shake your head, and the more we laugh - the more you do it. You really are a great baby, so happy, and so much fun! We all sure do love you!!

Ok - the quick Em story, too.
Yesterday we were driving back from one of the downtown parks and there was some sort of major accident that closed down the road we needed to go down. I muttered something under my breath (no, it wasn't a naughty word...) and then our conversation went like this:

Emma: What the matter is, Mama?
Me: Nothing honey, just an accident.
Emma: Uh oh. Did you go poopy in your pants, Mama?
Me: (cracking up) No honey, there was an accident with the cars up there.
Emma: Maybe they were scared to go poopy or just couldn't make it?

For a moment I thought it may just be better to let her think that rather than to think someone actually crashed into another car and potentially got hurt. But I did tell her they just crashed. Which really wasn't as interesting to her as the possibility of a "poopy" accident.
