Two important things have happened in the past few weeks that have made for a much happier Mommy. Well many important things have happened, but the biggest two:

1. We have found a babysitter!! She is a great, 19-year old, college student and PRESCHOOL teacher, getting her Bachelor's in Elementary Ed. (Dream candidate, huh?) She seems to be really good with the girls and her arrival has allowed J. and I our first "date" night since moving here (last Saturday - it was terrific!). She is coming over 2x a week for a few hours in the afternoon so that I can work. (She has the girls right now, notice the little bit of continuity in my writing!) My project hasn't kicked in officially yet, so this week I used my time for errands, and then I cleaned up my to-do list, made phone calls, and I still have time leftover to type this post! Ahhhh...life is good. I am actually typing this while sitting enjoying a coffee at Starbucks - which brings me to the other important arrival in our household.

2. For our anniversary, J. bought me a MacBook. We have been talking about getting a Mac at home for a while, and since I am going to be traveling and trying to work at the same time, he went ahead and did it. Now I can't believe I dragged my feet for so long --- I LOVE IT! Like I said, I can pick up go to the backyard, Starbucks, wherever&and work, or blog, or just play games:-). At any rate it is fun. I am actually typing this in Word to post later because I'm too cheap to pay the wireless fee to connect here. I know, I know - but the $20 for our sitter is well worth it!

Let's see what else is happening around here. Meesh visited last week, or was it the week before? I'm not sure, I have lost track. I also lost track of the dates this month, thus almost missing our anniversary (the 7th) and completely missing my best friend Kimmer's birthday (the 5th, so, soo, sooo sorry, Kimmer!), so needless to say the summer is flying by.

We have met some new friends and hiked a little bit with them last week while we had a little cool down, but it is scorching again this week. It is at least 95 degrees right now, but I'm sitting outside the café, and in the shade it is actually really nice. I'm telling you it really is that darn humidity that messes with you in the Midwest.

Little Emma has been asking to go to Shamu's house for a few weeks now, we got one of the season passes when we visited San Diego in March (very smart of us!) so tomorrow we are going down to spend the weekend with Shamu. She is so excited, but almost more excited that there will be a pool at the hotel. The kid is crazy for swimming. I am definitely going to sign her up again after we get back from the Chicago/Michigan trip. Addie, too. I have two little fishies on my hands. Emma is in ecstasy just thinking about getting to swim at Nana & Papa's and Nena's, too.

Okay, kinda weird/cool side note: I just happened to look up and saw a guy (no he wasn't particularly good looking or anything like that) and just smiled, to be nice you know, and he totally leaned over and said "hey, thanks for the smile!" and kept on walking. Who said people in LA are unfriendly??

Well, my time is almost up here. I will write more about the girls, Meesh's visit, our anniversary and our fun weekend soon. Maybe Tuesday when our lovely sitter comes back around!


(Late addition: Happy 11 months to Addikins! I cannot believe in 1 month you will be a year old. It is insane how fast your first year went. More on your milestones and achievements soon.)
