We're back... on Sunday, October 8, 2006 @ 22:32 PM
We're back, physically at least. It was a long, weird trip. We didn't quite make it to the bottom of the Canyon, Grandpa fell and messed up his knee, so we headed back out after only a few miles. It was a little disappointing, but J. and I have vowed to go back next year and finish what we started. We were pretty psyched for the trip and I think would have easily done the hike. Our "hill training boot camp" definitely paid off...neither of us were really even working at the little bit we got to do.

So, the rest of the week we tripped around, spent a lot of time in different hotels and in the car. (blech!) The girls were pretty good considering all of the tripping we did. I have posted all of the photos in our flickr account, you can see them here. We had a lot and it was just easier to put them all up there instead of putting them up on the site here. I'll probably post some of my favorites here, though.

Meanwhile, somewhere between Phoenix and home in the past two days somebody decided it would be funny to play a cruel, cruel joke on J. and I by replacing our darling girls with complete monsters. I'm not talking having a "little bad day" here - I'm talking test every last ounce of patience, please take my children before I lock them in their bedrooms until they are 10 years old kind of day...and it has lasted all weekend.

Addie still hasn't found her sleep routine (she NEVER found it while we were on vacation) or her new teeth - so I'm operating on very little sleep here. And Emma has apparently found her whiny, can't do anything for herself, terrible, terrible threes! Ugh, it is so hard to be patient with her when you are fighting to stay awake. I have huge heaps of Mommy guilt this weekend. I just can't find it in me to deal with them. I think the long vacation has taken it's toll on all of us.

I'm almost anxious for Monday...the start of (hopefully) a good new week.
