Dear Addikins -
What happened over the last month?? You have left babyhood and become a full-fledged toddler. It has made life interesting and wonderful and just a little bit bittersweet.

(Oh, and can I say exhausting, too? It is 2am and I'm writing this to you because you have just been up from 1am until about 5 minutes ago...and some cruel trick of fate has left me sleepless after this little sleep interlude. About every few days we have one of these nightly "episodes" and it is getting a little bit OLD!)

As I was saying, you are so not a baby anymore. You toddle around her like you own the place. Pointing at things and giving me a "more please" sign and if I can't figure out what it is you want, you DEMAND I go through the entire list of everything within pointing distance and you do so with little screams and sometimes even an accompanying foot stomp or two. It is cute, even if it is a little look into a possible future full of temper tantrums. Each child is different. I keep reminding myself of that.

You do know quite a few words already and you are a total Polly, (as in "Parrot") trying to mimic all the words we say to you. Emma is constantly saying, "Addie say...." trying to get you to talk to her. So far the distinguishable words are:

Nana
Nene (Nena)
behr (bear)
ba (bath)
baaa-be(baby)
BAAAAA!!! (boo!)
(notice the trend of "b" words here?)

oo-oo-ahh-ahh (with accompanying "monkey scratch" under the arm)
eeeeeeeeaaaahhh (with accompanying "elephant truck stretch")
oink (my favorite!)
(all of the above you can correctly match to the corresponding animal when we ask you, "what does a ________ say?")

mowar (more)
peas (please)
tri-o-tee (trick or treat)

I feel like there are more, but it is late and I'm starting to get tired...these are the ones that we are for sure you can say and know what they mean. But like I said, you'll try to repeat almost anything.

You also love to push the little fridge ABC thingy we have and "sing along." You stand at the fridge and sing "e, e, e, e, e, e, e, e, e, e, e, eeee" but it is totally in tune to the ABC song and you get your hips moving...it is the funniest thing. I haven't been able to capture it on video yet - but it is permanently engraved in my mind, it makes me smile everytime you start the song up.


Despite the "early" mornings and testy temper tantrums, you are such a funny, sweet little thing and we are all enjoying watching your sense of humor and sweetness evolve. I am so excited to see Christmas through your eyes next month - I think combined with your sister's and my excitement of the holiday, it should be an all out blast.

I love you, tiny pumpkin. Happy 14-month birthday.
